Reformer Pilates Tutors and Assessors - London
Passionate about Reformer Pilates? We're looking for experienced Reformer Pilates teachers based in the London and neighbouring counties to teach and inspire the next generation of reformer teachers.
We are HFE, a leading and award-winning training provider of active leisure and fitness industry qualifications.
We provide a wide variety of health, fitness, and wellbeing qualifications across the UK, with our Pilates teacher training courses setting the benchmark for quality and excellence, both in matwork and reformer-based Pilates.
Renowned for our commitment to outstanding customer service and our uncompromising quality standards, we seek applications from Pilates professionals who share this same dedication and vision.
We believe in the power of people and their potential. Our mission is to foster a learning environment where every one of our Pilates students can expand their knowledge, develop their teaching skills, and become the best Pilates teacher they can become.
We embody the philosophy that “excellence is a habit and not a destination.” This drives us to continually refine our programmes and delivery, challenging the status quo to provide a truly world-class learning and assessment experience for our students.
While our Pilates courses deliver fully regulated and internationally recognised qualifications, our focus is to support every student’s personal and professional growth. The purpose of our courses isn’t just about getting the qualification—it’s about what our students get the opportunity to become in the process. Hence our slogan, become more.
Our reformer Pilates tutors and assessors are regarded as some of the best in the industry and to join this exceptional team, you’ll need to match their dedication and commitment high standards.
You must be able to deliver our reformer Pilates programmes in accordance with the published timetable, but you’ll also need to be student-focused, meticulous, and technically precise with the content of your sessions. Above all, you’ll need a warmth and passion for supporting our students to broaden and deepen their technical knowledge while sharpening their practical skills.
While our reformer teacher training programmes are pre-timetabled, we are looking for tutors inject their own passion, expertise and experience into their delivery, to create a truly engaging and interactive learning experience for our students.
A typical reformer training course will be delivered over 4 days (two weekends) and the course will run between 10:00-18:00, although it is important to stress that some venues the hours are slightly later due to studio access. A full day of training is 8 hours, which is inclusive of two short comfort breaks (15 mins), and a slightly longer meal break (30 mins).
The current rate of pay for our reformer teacher training programmes is £185.00 per day.
We also have a number of our tutors who get involved with other training programmes (matwork Pilates – Level 3 and 4) and/or development projects and the rates of pay according to these vary. Suffice to say there is plenty of opportunity for skilled and competent tutors to secure a regular pattern of interesting and rewarding work.
On application, you must be able to demonstrate that you have extensive qualifications and experience with teaching Pilates, both matwork and reformer. As a minimum, you should have:
*We may consider exceptional applicants who are working towards these qualifications as long as there is a firm commitment to achieve these within 12 months.
We deliver our reformer teacher training throughout the Greater London and neighbouring regions. If you are keen to join our London-based team, then you must be able to commute to our regional reformer Pilates venues, some of which are listed below.
To join the HFE team, you must be prepared to commit to us exclusively in a commercial capacity, as we do not employ tutors who also work for competing commercial training providers.
However, we warmly welcome applications from individuals employed by fitness industry operators or educational establishments, like colleges or universities for example. We don’t however employ people who work with or for organisations that compete directly with us.
Alongside the pay, you’ll also benefit from a consistent pattern of work, access to a wide-range of additional training opportunities, collaboration with like-minded Pilates professionals, and the exciting and rewarding opportunity to inspire the next generation of reformer Pilates teachers.
We are one of the largest reformer Pilates training providers in the UK and we often have multiple courses running simultaneously at the same venues. If you are able to meet our high standards for quality and customer service, you could expect to be working as many weekends as you like. Most courses run alternative weekends so most tutors prefer to work one weekend on, and one off. But it really is up to you…
Once appointed, there are a few onboarding steps that must be taken. Initially, you’ll receive a welcome call from our operations and quality assurance team. Here, we’ll iron out any training needs, qualification gaps, and/or concerns that you have about getting started. Once we’ve got your signed contracts back, you’ll then be required to shadow at least one full course where you will observe one of our senior tutors delivering the programme. You’ll also get the opportunity to get involved if you like. Shadowing isn’t paid, although we will cover any expenses you incur. So, there is a small upfront investment from you and this helps us to weed out those who are serious, and those who aren’t. From here, you’ll start to receive paid tutoring dates. Initially, you’ll support other tutors with the delivery, and then when you feel ready, you’ll be able to lead your own courses.
We’re adding new venues to our portfolio all of the time and so it’s possible that the physical venue that the reformer courses are delivered from will change. We do try to regionalise tutors to limit the need for travel, so you can expect to be working throughout Greater London. We do however have courses running in other areas of the country so if you are open to travel, there is likely to be some opportunity there also.
We do get a lot of applications and so it’s not always possible to respond to every one that we get. If after receiving your CV we think that you might be suitable, we will get in touch. If you are concerned that something may have gone wrong, you can always call the office to check that we have received your application, but our team won’t be able to give you any indication or feedback about your application. It is also worth noting that we do recruit in short and intensive sprints to maximise our efficiency. You may experience a short delay if we don’t have a recruitment sprint on right now.
We’re looking for an experienced Reformer Pilates instructor to deliver and assess the practical elements of our training programme. This role offers opportunities at multiple training venues across the Greater London region.
You’ll be responsible for delivering courses in line with our provided timetables, lesson plans, and resources. However, we also encourage you to bring your expertise and professional insights to enhance the learning experience for our students.
New tutors will initially work alongside our senior instructors, receiving hands-on training and mentorship to ensure they feel confident teaching independently.
This is a freelance, self-employed role, with work assigned based on availability and expertise. The majority of our courses run on weekends, though there may be some mid-week opportunities as well.
