Reformer Pilates Tutors and Assessors - Leeds
Passionate about Reformer Pilates?
We're looking for experienced Reformer Pilates teachers based in Leeds who want to inspire the next generation of reformer teachers.
We are HFE, a leading and award-winning training provider of active leisure and fitness industry qualifications.
We offer a diverse range of health, fitness and wellbeing programmes across the UK, and our Pilates teacher training programmes have become the gold standard, both for matwork and reformer Pilates.
We have a reputation for training excellence and high standards with everything that we do, so it’s imperative that any applicant shares this vision.
We believe in people and their potential. Our mission is to create a learning environment where our Pilates students can deepen their knowledge, develop their skills, and become the best Pilates teachers that they can be.
We live and breath the philosophy that ‘excellence isn’t an outcome – it’s a habit’. That’s why we’re constantly striving to improve our Pilates teacher training programmes, pushing beyond “the status quo” to deliver a truly world-class training and assessment experience for our students.
While our Pilates programmes lead to fully regulated and internationally recognised qualifications, our focus is on helping each and every one of our students to grow personally and professionally. The goal of our programmes isn’t just to get the qualification, it’s to become more in the process.
Our reformer Pilates tutors and assessors are some of the best in the business. If you want to join this elite team, then you’ll need to share their commitment to high standards.
You must be able to deliver our reformer Pilates programmes in-line with the scheduled timetable. You’ll need to be student-focused, diligent and technically accurate with regards to ‘what’ you are delivering. But more importantly, you’ll need to be passionate about helping our students to develop greater knowledge and skills.
While the structure of our reformer teacher training programmes is standardised, you’ll still need to be able to bring your own flare and expertise to the programme, creating an engaging and interactive learning experience that bridges the theory and practical for our students.
As a new tutor, you will be supported by our experienced team of senior tutors, where you’ll receive hands-on instruction and guidance on how to deliver theory and practical sessions to get the most out of students throughout their course.
We’re looking for professional reformer Pilates teachers that can make a meaningful contribution to our provision. If you are only looking for occasional work, then this isn’t going to be the opportunity for you.
A typical reformer training course will be delivered over 4 days (two weekends) and the course will run between 10:00-18:00, although it is important to stress that some venues the hours are slightly later due to studio access. A full day of training is 8 hours, which is inclusive of two short comfort breaks (15 mins), and a slightly longer meal break (30 mins).
The current rate of pay for our reformer teacher training programmes is £185.00 per day.
We also have a number of our tutors who get involved with other training programmes (matwork Pilates – Level 3 and 4) and/or development projects and the rates of pay according to these vary. Suffice to say there is plenty of opportunity for skilled and competent tutors to secure a regular pattern of interesting and rewarding work.
On application, you must be able to demonstrate that you have extensive qualifications and experience with teaching Pilates, both matwork and reformer. As a minimum, you should have:
*We may consider exceptional applicants who are working towards these qualifications as long as there is a firm commitment to achieve these within 12 months.
We deliver our reformer teacher training from multiple venues across Leeds. If you are keen to join our team, then you must be able to commute to our regional reformer Pilates venues, some of which are listed below.
If you want to join the HFE team, you must be able to commit to us exclusively in a commercial capacity because we do not engage tutors who work for other commercial training providers.
That said, we do welcome applications from those employed by other fitness industry operators or educational organisations that do not compete directly with us (e.g., colleges, universities).
In addition to your remuneration, you’ll benefit from a regular pattern of work, unlimited training opportunities, the chance to collaborate with like-minded Pilates professionals, and the chance to shape the next generation of reformer Pilates teachers.
We are one of the largest reformer Pilates training providers in the UK and we often have multiple courses running simultaneously at the same venues. If you are able to meet our high standards for quality and customer service, you could expect to be working as many weekends as you like. Most courses run alternative weekends so most tutors prefer to work one weekend on, and one off. But it really is up to you…
Once appointed, there are a few onboarding steps that must be taken. Initially, you’ll receive a welcome call from our operations and quality assurance team. Here, we’ll iron out any training needs, qualification gaps, and/or concerns that you have about getting started. Once we’ve got your signed contracts back, you’ll then be required to shadow at least one full course where you will observe one of our senior tutors delivering the programme. You’ll also get the opportunity to get involved if you like. Shadowing isn’t paid, although we will cover any expenses you incur. So, there is a small upfront investment from you and this helps us to weed out those who are serious, and those who aren’t. From here, you’ll start to receive paid tutoring dates. Initially, you’ll support other tutors with the delivery, and then when you feel ready, you’ll be able to lead your own courses.
We’re adding new venues to our portfolio all of the time and so it’s possible that the physical venue that the reformer courses are delivered from will change. We do try to regionalise tutors to limit the need for travel, so you can expect to be working throughout Leeds and surrounding areas. We do however have courses running in other areas of the country so if you are open to travel, there is likely to be some opportunity there also.
We do get a lot of applications and so it’s not always possible to respond to every one that we get. If after receiving your CV we think that you might be suitable, we will get in touch. If you are concerned that something may have gone wrong, you can always call the office to check that we have received your application, but our team won’t be able to give you any indication or feedback about your application. It is also worth noting that we do recruit in short and intensive sprints to maximise our efficiency. You may experience a short delay if we don’t have a recruitment sprint on right now.
We’re looking for an experienced Reformer Pilates instructor to deliver and assess the practical elements of our training programme. This role offers opportunities at multiple training venues in Leeds.
You’ll be responsible for delivering courses in line with our provided timetables, lesson plans, and resources. However, we also encourage you to bring your expertise and professional insights to enhance the learning experience for our students.
New tutors will initially work alongside our senior instructors, receiving hands-on training and mentorship to ensure they feel confident teaching independently.
This is a freelance, self-employed role, with work assigned based on availability and expertise. The majority of our courses run on weekends, though there may be some mid-week opportunities as well.
